Water Rates On Agenda

An ordinance increasing water rates will be on the agenda for the Yankton City Commission tonight. The higher rates are needed to help finance construction of new collector wells and a water treatment plant. The city is planning to borrow up to twenty nine million dollars to finance the improvements. City Manager Amy Nelson says she has not had a lot of feedback on the higher rates…

Nelson says the ordinance could be referred to a vote if a petition drive called for it…

The commission meets tonight at 7pm at the RTEC building.
