Walters Odd Man Out

Walters Odd Man Out

P.J. Walters pitched better Wednesday, but not well enough to keep his spot in Minnesota.

The Twins have designated Walters for assignment to make room for Mike Pelfrey’s return to the roster. Pelfrey is returning from the disabled list. His spot on the roster was taken by rookie Kyle Gibson who will stay with the big league club after going 1-1 in his two starts.

Walters lost a 3-2 decision to the Yankees Wednesday after working just three and two thirds innings combined in two previous starts.
