Twins Limp Home

Placido Polanco’s two-run homer in the sixth inning lifted the Marlins to a 5-3 win over the Twins.   Scott Diamond allowed four runs in five-plus frames to take the loss for Minnesota.  Joe Mauer , Josh Willingham and Oswaldo Arcia all drove in runs in the first for the Twins.  Minnesota  lost four-of-five on the road trip.

The Twins open up an eight-game homestand tonight against the Kansas City Royals at Target Field.  The teams will play four games before the Yankees come to town for four contests.  Samuel Deduno takes the mound tonight for Minnesota.  He is 3-and-2 with a 3.72 ERA in six starts this season.  The Royals will counter with Jeremy Guthrie, who is 7-and-5 with a 4.20 ERA.
