Trying To Raise Minimum Wage in South Dakota

A petition drive will soon be underway in South Dakota that would let voters decide on a higher minimum wage. Mark Anderson of Sioux Falls is President of the state AFL-CIO……

Labor groups along with the state democratic party are backing the initiated measure. Anderson says while the market can set wages at some levels, it doesn’t work for those at the bottom of the ladder……

Anderson says they do not believe that raising the minimum wage will result in any type of massive lay off of lower paid people…

Backers of the drive need about sixteen thousand signatures turned in by early November.
