South Dakota Dairy Group Backs New Raw Milk Rule

South Dakota Dairy Group Backs New Raw Milk Rule

A strengthened state rule on raw milk requiring labeling on milk bottles has passed the legislature’s rules review committee and is heading to the full state legislature.   South Dakota Dairy Producers Executive Director Roger Schiebe says it’s a good rule and needs to go forward.

Schiebe says several hearings were held on the new rules and sufficient information has been provided both sides of the issue so it’s time to implement it.

He says the rules needed to be strengthened in order to protect the health of the general public so they know the problems with consuming raw milk and the possible consequences.
