South Dakota Ag Land Task Force To Look At County Rental Rates

 

The South Dakota Legislature’s Agricultural Land Assessment Task Force will meet Tuesday in Pierre. The panel will hear presentations from the State Revenue Department regarding ag land assessments.  Committee member State Representative Julie Bartling of Gregory says there are concerns regarding the various county ag land rental rates and how they figure into the formula that need addressing.

Bartling says other committee member’s questions center around marginal land being put back into ag production and how that fits into the ag land assessment.

She says they’ll be looking at concerns of the Commerce Industry and Retailers Association  on the shift in valuations and how that may affect non ag land. She says they’ll also look at possible draft legislation.
