Senate Farm Bill Introduced in House

Last week Iowa Democratic Congressmen Dave Loebsack and Bruce Braley introduced the Senate’s version of the farm bill in the House.  National Corn Growers President Pam Johnson is hopeful that will spur House leadership to get a bill passed after their recent failure.

Johnson says the Senate passed farm bill had several components important to corn growers including a strong safety net that included enhanced crop insurance.  She says the House needs to pass something similar.

She says the volatile weather the last two seasons is proof that risk management needs to be a key component of any farm bill.
