The Royals have added a potential power bat for their bench. KC has signed veteran first baseman Carlos Pena to a minor league contract and assigned him to Omaha. Pena hit .209 with eight home runs for Houston before being released on July 31st. The Royals also sent outfielder Quintin Berry to Boston for pitcher Clayton Mortensen.
