River Levels Dropping

River levels on the Missouri River below Gavins Point dam have been falling for the past few days, and will continue to fall as releases are cut back.

Dave Becker, Operations Manager for the Corps of Engineers at the dam, says they are headed to their winter flow…

Becker says flows of  twelve thousand cubic feet per second are well below what would be normal for winter levels…

Becker says the reservoir system upstream is still rebounding from the effects of last year’s drought…

Becker says with changes from the flood of 2011, twelve thousand cubic feet per second is equivalent to a flow of eight thousand cubic feet some years ago.
