RFA Vice President Disputes Blend Wall Arguement

RFA Vice President Disputes Blend Wall Arguement

The American Petroleum Institute is putting pressure on federal officials to repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard. API is saying the ethanol industry has hit the so called blend wall. They’re also asking EPA to waive the cellulosic ethanol mandate for 2013.  Renewable Fuel Association’s Vice President of Research and Development Geoff Cooper says the oil industry is claiming higher gas prices are caused by the blend wall which isn’t true.

Cooper says gas prices are caused by crude oil and the global market.

He  says API is going after the R-F-S, a program that is reducing U.S. dependence on imported oil while saving consumers money at the pump. He says they’re also going after E 15 which is not mandated and is a cost saving oil addiction breaking alternative.
