Rail Line To Be Sold

Canadian Pacific has reached agreement to sell the western parts of the former DM&E railroad to a group called Genesse & Wyoming. The sale price was two hundred ten million dollars, and includes track from Tracy Minnesota west to Rapid City and the Black Hills.

Todd Yeaton, a member of the South Dakota Railroad Board, says Genesse & Wyoming has a pretty good reputation in the rail business…

 

Yeaton says the state needs dependable service along that line…

 

Yeaton says there are maintenance issue from Ft Pierre to Rapid City which will need attention…

 

The sale could be approved by the Surface Transportation Board by mid year.
