Rail Line Sale Falls Through

At the last possible moment, the sale of a short line rail road has fallen through. The Napa to Platte rail line, which runs from western Yankton County through central Charles Mix County was going to be sold to a company called Iron Horse. South Dakota Rail Board member Todd Yeaton says Toby Morris of Iron Horse told the board they wanted out…

Yeaton said the rail board was blindsided by the move, but did extend existing leases for a year…

Yeaton says there is fall out because of the sale cancellation…

The line has not had regular train service since the late 1980s. Wagner Native Ethanol has been working to restore service as part of their development plans.
