R CALF Not Happy With Finalized BSE Rules

USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service this week finalized their BSE rule which modernizes import regulations.  R CALF CEO Bill Bullard says the rule is irresponsible given what’s happening with BSE in Europe.

Bullard says USDA is bowing to meat packer’s wishes for allowing more imported cattle into the United States.

He says the new BSE rule lowers America’s standards to the lowest possible level by matching it up with international standards.

Bullard says his group will work with Congress to strengthen the Animal Protection Act which calls for higher BSE standards.
