Pork Leader Says Housing Decisions Best Left To Producers

Pork Leader Says Housing Decisions Best Left To Producers

The question of whether gestation crates should be used should be up to individual pork producers. That’s according to National Pork Producers Council President Randy Spronk. The Minnesota producer says a long thought out discussion however needs to be held over the issue so the best decision can be made for the future of the animals and the industry.

Spronk says all the facts need to come out on the issue and it needs to be decided on best scientific practices and what benefits producers, the animal, and consumers.

Spronk says activist groups tend to want quick and rash decisions rather than thinking through the entire issue.
