Pork a Value for July 4

On one of the biggest grilling days of the year pork producers are urging consumers to make pork part of their 4th of July celebrations.  Stacey Sorlein with the South Dakota Pork Producers Council says pork is a versatile protein for the grill and it’s also a great value right now.

She says it will be easier for consumers to buy pork this holiday with new cut names such as porterhouse that mirror the beef industry.

For a tender and juicy end product Sorlein recommends using a meat thermometer and cooking pork to 145-degree with a three minute rest.
