NFU Asks House Speaker To Get Farm Bill Conferees Named

National Farmers Union has written House Speaker John Boehner saying he holds the fate of the farm bill in his hands.  NFU Vice President of Government Relations Chandler Goule says Boehner needs to immediately name conferees and get the farm bill to a conference committee.

Goule says the farm legislation needs to get completed before the end of the year and while there is a sense of urgency there is time to get it done.

He says with the budget and debt ceiling discussions on hold, the farm bill may be the very best opportunity for any major forward looking legislation to pass this year.
