Schieffer was formerly President of the DM&E Railroad. Before that, he was US Attorney for the state from 1991 to 1993. He says he knows there are significant challenges for higher education………

Schieffer earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota, with a law degree from Georgetown University. He says he knows the value of higher education……

Scheiffer’s appointment is effective immediately. He replaces Carole Pagones  of Sioux Falls, who retired from the Regents last month.
