Minnesota Beef Referendum Extended

The Minnesota Beef Research and Promotion Council is extending the date for cattle producers to request a ballot for their proposed state checkoff rate increase.  Board Director Jay Bakken of Beaver Creek says after holding public hearings they decided to extend the date for requesting a ballot from December 15 to January 17th.

He says they’re proposing a $1 increase per head in the state of Minnesota which would raise an additional $400,000 to $500,000 to be used specifically for state programs.

To request a ballot, cattle producers can go to the MN Beef Council or Minnesota Department of Ag websites.
