Milk Group Pleased Teamsters Backing Dairy Security Act

Milk Group Pleased Teamsters Backing Dairy Security Act

The Teamsters Union has reversed their earlier position and is now backing the Dairy Security Act as part of the new farm bill. National Milk Producers Federation helped come up with the plan and are still hoping it passes. Federation’s Chris Galen says his group was able to alleviate concerns of the Teamsters and is hoping their support will help get the measure over the finish line.

Teamsters were assured that under the Dairy Security Act, delivery of milk will continue in full regardless of stabilization provisions. Galen says the key to getting the legislation passed is making sure the Senate’s farm bill with the stabilization portion is included in the final conferenced measure.

Galen says another plus of the Dairy Security Act is it isn’t a costly program to implement.
