Land Stewardship Group Wants More Funding For Conservation

Land Stewardship Project members want the House Senate conference committee to restore at least some of the funding for the farm bill’s conservation title.  LSP’s Adam Wartheson says conservation cuts were deep in not just the House’s farm only farm bill but also in the Senate’s comprehensive farm bill package.

Wartheson says lawmakers don’t have a lot of time to get a final farm bill conferenced and onto the President for passage before the September deadline hits.

Wartheson says it’s important farmers are given important conservation tools to be able to deal with challenges like erosion which happened with the heavy rains this spring.
