Iowa Corn Growers President Hails Defeat Of GMO Labeling Measure

Washington State voters this week defeated an initiative that would have mandated labeling of genetically modified foods.  Iowa Corn Growers President Roger Zylstra who serves as NCGA’s Biotech Action Team Vice Chair says the defeat of that measure is a big win for agriculture and for farmers growing biotech crops.

Zylstra says he’s pleased science and common sense prevailed on this issue. He says most of those who oppose biotech and g-m-o-s really don’t understand the technologies very well and are against larger businesses.

Zylstra says it’s important for producers to keep telling their story and getting that message out to the general public about the safety and efficiency of biotechnology.
