Interim Committees See Attendance Problems

Low attendance and sporadic scheduling has some South Dakota legislators concerned about the usefulness of interim committees. Some are set up as one year only for one topic, while others continue from year to year.

Representative Susan Wismer of Britton says they have seen a drop in attendance this year…

 

She serves on the Planning Committee, which was mandated by this year’s legislature, and says they have a hard time getting a full slate to meet…

 

Wismer says there are often competing ad hoc committees going on at the same time…
