HSUS Trying To Get King Amendment Stripped From The Farm Bill

HSUS Trying To Get King Amendment Stripped From The Farm Bill

The Humane Society of the United States is lobbying farm bill conferees to eliminate the King amendment from the final farm bill.  HSUS Agricultural director Joe Maxwell says Congressman Steve King’s provision is a federal pre emption over state law.

HSUS is spending $ 100,000 in on line ads to influence farm bill conferees to throw out the King amendment.  Maxwell says that’s the best way to bring the issue to consumers.

The King amendment would keep states from barring good made in other states based on the means of production.
