Gopher Coach Remains Out

Gopher Coach Remains Out

Minnesota acting head coach Tracy Claeys says he doesn’t expect coach Jerry Kill to return from his leave of absence in time to be with the team on Saturday at Northwestern.

Kill announced last week that he was leaving the team to try to get a better handle on the epileptic seizures that have become more frequent for him this season. He missed the second half of one game and the entire game against Michigan on Oct. 5 because of seizures.

There is no timetable for his return. But Claeys says Kill is still out of town consulting with doctors to try to better manage his epilepsy.

Claeys says he doesn’t feel like a head coach. He says the Gophers will “always be coach Kill’s program.”
