Education Funding Fairness on the Agenda Again

The Education Funding Formula Study Committee of the South Dakota legislature meets again Monday in Pierre. The group will hear from a number of school officials on unequal funding and the use of opt outs and capital outlay funds.

Senator Bill Van Gerpen of Tyndall says in their previous meetings, he was impressed with the expansion of technology in the schools…

He says they have also heard about the role of discipline in improving students’ performance…

Van Gerpen says while money is an important factor, he thinks they also have to look at the support given to teachers………

The committee plans at least one more meeting before the 2014 legislative session.
