Domestic Violence Laws To Be Introduced

A summer study committee of the South Dakota legislature held hearings around the state on domestic abuse.

A package of bills from that study has been filed for introduction in this year’s session.

Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton says they wanted to extend current protections…

Stevens says he hopes the bills get some extensive debate in committee and on the floor…

Stevens says the bills will not be able to fix all the issues with domestic abuse and enforcement…

The session starts next Tuesday.
