Congress Votes to Re-open the Government

Members of Congress voted to approve a budget continuing resolution and an increase in the debt ceiling, ending the sixteen day government shutdown and political standoff.

South Dakota Senator John Thune voted for the resolution………

Thune has said several times in the past few weeks that he would not support any bill that funded the Affordable Care Act.

South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem voted against the resolution in the House…

Senator Tim Johnson voted for the resolution.

The resolution funds the government until January 15th, and extends the debt ceiling to February 7th.
