Commission Debates Noise Issue

The Yankton City Commission again debated noise, and what to do about it at their meeting this week. There have been some complaints to police about loud music coming from at least one bar in downtown Yankton. City Manager Amy Nelson posed a number of questions about noise regulation to commissioners…

Jay Roberts, who live near downtown, urged the commission to continue to look for regulations on all types of noise, not just music…

Mayor Nancy Wenande said she did not want the commission to make any new regulations without more study…

A citizen-commission task force was formed to gather more information and possibly make recommendations in the future.
