City of Yankton Wants Highway Plan Redrawn

Officials from the City of Yankton, along with the counties legislative delegation have been talking to the state Department of Transportation about the re-design of the Highway 50 project through the city. That four lane road is set to be rebuilt in 2015. The state wants to reconfigure much of the road into a five lane road from the current four lane configuration.

Yankton City Manager Amy Nelson says she believes the state is willing to redesign some of the highway…

Nelson says the rebuild does not have a lot of room in the city limits……

The project would rebuild the highway from the intersection with Highway 81 east almost to the city limits, a distance of about two miles.
