Bills Will Deal With Ag Property Tax

At least two bills dealing with ag land property tax assessments will find their way to the 2014 South Dakota legislature.

The Ag Land Assessment Oversight Task Force met this week in Pierre. The group has been watching the progress of the transition of the ag property tax system to one based on land productivity.

Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot says they have one bill that would adjust some of the details…

He says another bill would deal with conversion of ag land from one use to another…

Frerichs says they believe using an eight year running average will even out the peaks and valleys of ag production…
