A Failure To Sweep

 The Twins missed a chance to take three in a row from Philadelphia. 
Jimmy Rollins knocked in a run during the eighth inning with a fielder’s choice to break a two-all tie and help give the Phillies a 3-2 win over the Twins in Minnesota.  Justin Morneau  knocked in two runs for Minnesota, which is now 6-and-5 this month.  Jared Burton took the loss in relief. 

  The Twins open up a three-game weekend series with the Detroit Tigers tonight at Target Field.  Scott Diamond will take the mound for Minnesota.  He is 4-and-5 with a 5.19 ERA in 11 starts this season.  The Tigers will counter with Rick Porcello, who is 3-and-3 with a 4.86 ERA.
