500 Groups Push House Farm Bill

A broad coalition of more than 530 groups has sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner urging him to bring the farm bill back to the House floor for a vote as soon as possible.  American Farm Bureau Director of Public Policy Mary Kay Thatcher says the letter notes the importance of maintaining a unified bill that includes both farm and nutrition programs.

She says splitting the nutrition title from the rest of the bill could result in neither farm nor nutrition programs passing.

Thatcher says it’s crucial for the House to try again to bring together lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to provide certainty for farmers upon returning from the 4th of July recess.
