Featured Speaker: Linda Zimmerman, “Some Days are Diamonds, Some Days are Stones: Dealing with Metastatic Breast Cancer” Linda was employed by HyVee for 16 years, with 14 of those years at the Customer Service Desk.  She is the mother of 7 children.  Born and raised in Gayville, SD.  She lives with her husband Ron in Yankton.

Story Time

It’s story time at the Yankton Community Library! All preschoolers 3-5 years-old and their care givers are invited to join youth services librarian Joyce Moore on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday or Thursday at 10:15 a.m. for story time. Enjoy books, music, rhymes, instruments, and crafts all related to a specific theme.

Toddler time for 1-3 year-olds is Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Singing, dancing, rhymes, finger plays, and books will captivate the toddlers. Care givers are invited to join in the fun.

Kidney Care Education Day for Patients and the Community

Thursday, October 23rd 2014 - 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Best Western Ramkota

From 9:30 am- 10:00 am people may register for the event and check out the exhibits on display. From 10:00 am- 11:00 am there will be four 20 minute presentations on hygiene/catheter access and care; dental health; sleep health; and exercise. From 11:00 am-11:30 there will be an open forum/discussion panel with a Q and A at the end with all of the presenters. There will be a 15 minute break before the free lunch program with professions and the Kidney Courage Awards presentation that will last until the end.

Fishing Tournament

7th annual Brian Nielsen Memorial Fishing Tournament will be on Oct. 25th at the Weighand Marina in Nebraska on Lewis and Clark.  7:30am meeting at boat dock with 8am tourney starts.  Weigh in at 4pm.  After the wiegh-in they will be going to CJ’s at the lake for food and fun.  there will be an auction and other events.  For more information call 605-665-9522

Red Raider Road Race

Saturday, October 25th 2014 - 8:30 am at Northwestern College

The 21st annual Red Raider Road Race will take place Saturday, October 25th, during Northwestern College’s Raider Days homecoming and family weekend celebration.  The race starts at 8:30 a-m on the track at De Valois Stadium on campus.

Participants can choose between running an 8K or 4K race or walking one mile around the stadium track.  Race pre-registration costs 20 dollars for runners and 10 dollars for those planning to walk.  Registration the day of the race is $25.  Visit w-w-w-dot-n-w-c-iowa-dot-edu-slash-raider-road-race to register.
