Yoga 101

Saturday, October 18th 2014 - 9:00 am - 11:15 am

In this introductory workshop by Rebecca Johnson, you will learn the basics of a modern yoga practice in a safe environment. After attending this workshop, students will feel confident walking into their first all levels yoga class. Appropriate for new students or those wanting a refresher in the basics.

Students will learn basic poses and proper alignment for a safer yoga experience. You will also learn simple breathing exercises and be guided through a relaxation exercise at the end.

Yoga mats are available to borrow. Please bring a blanket. Space is limited to 16 people.

ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED:
Early Bird Pricing: $15 if you register before September 2nd. $20 after. You may register online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/yoga-101-tickets-12698069267 or mail checks payable to Rebecca Johnson, 1505 Walnut Street, Yankton, SD 57078.

Email rebecca@rljcreative.com with any questions or health concerns you may have.

Helpful tips – yoga is best practiced on a mostly empty stomach. Eating breakfast beforehand is OK, but I’d avoid eating a large one just before class :). Wear comfortable clothing that has some stretch to it. We will be practicing in bare feet. Avoid strong perfumes or lotions as these may be distracting and affect classmates sensitive to smells. You may wish to bring water. Locker rooms are available.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

Rebecca Johnson started doing yoga in 2006 and was soon hooked on how yoga improved her body image, strength, self esteem and ability to deal with stress. Inspired to help others experience the same, she completed a 200 hour teaching certification with the Omaha Yoga & Bodywork Center in 2008. She teaches mainly at the Summit Activities Center in Yankton, South Dakota. Most classes are in a slow, flowing style, ending with a 5-15 minute guided relaxation. Rebecca’s interest in yoga has led her to many workshops, including trainings to teach children’s and prenatal yoga.
