Saturday, July 26th 2014 - 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

A Home For Austin will be hosting their final fund-raiser, the Mettle Run, on July 26th. The definition of mettle is “a person’s ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way.”

The Home for Austin committee felt that was a fitting name to show honor to the little boy that the fund-raiser will benefit. Austin is a seven year old from Tea, SD. Austin lost his limbs just before his third birthday due to a rare form of meningitis. In an effort to give this little boy a handicap accessible home, a group of individuals and businesses formed A Home For Austin. Through generous donations and fund-raising efforts a home has been built by Lennox and Tea Area High School students during this past school year. The home is scheduled to be moved late July to a lot in Tea. A Home For Austin Committee members see this final fund-raiser not only as a chance to raise funds for the finishing touches but also as a celebration.

Valley Exchange Bank/Exchange Insurance Agency are main sponsors of the event. The Mettle Run will include a 5K, Half Marathon and a 1 Mile fun walk/run. The 5K is a chip-timed event that starts and ends in the Tea City Park. Route conditions are paved streets. Start time is 8:00am.
