USMEF to Conduct Strategic Planning

The U.S. Meat Export Federation will be looking at ways to continue the trend of record U.S. meat exports at their annual strategic planning meeting next week in Indianapolis.  Federation Vice President of Marketing and Communication’s Dan Halstrom says they’ll use a matrix to prioritize the many markets around the world so they can best use the limited dollars for export development and promotion.

With record beef and pork exports in 2011 Halstrom says it’s a real challenge to build on that success.

Halstrom says their matrix also looks at the market size of the export country, the political and currency risk and the short and long term economic situation.   Once that’s done they will finalize implementation plans for the coming year.
