Spring Wheat Tour Goers Estimate Near Record Crop

The Wheat Quality Council’s Spring Wheat Tour of North Dakota and portions of Minnesota and South Dakota wrapped up Thursday with officials estimating a 46 bushel per acre yield, close to last year’s record crop. Council Executive Director Ben Handcock says the spring wheat looks great and the bushels per acre will be similar to last year’s.

Handcock says they won’t know the protein content until the wheat is harvested but anticipates it will be up over past years.

Handcock says he thinks the test weights will be high. 55 people participated in this year’s 3 day tour.
