A Bill introduced in the House last week that lifts the travel ban to Cuba in favor of sending more agricultural products to the island nation has oneFarm State Representative concerned. Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith says he doesn’t like relaxing of restrictions on Cuba although he’s not against the U.S. sending ag commodities to the country.
Smith says trade needs to be beneficial for both countries and Cuba needs to make some reforms in order for the U.S. to look at lifting any restrictions. He says the U.S. should continue to send humanitarian type of aid through food and ag products to Cuba.
The Bi partisan Cuba trade bill is sponsored by House Ag Chairman Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Representative Jerry Moran of Kansas
