NCBA Looking at Cattle Marketing Concerns
The nation’s cattlemen are concerned about several proposed changes impacting the way they market their cattle. NCBA leaders met with officials from the CME at their convention last week. Iowa Cattlemen’s President Ed Greiman led the discussion on the addition of some serial month cattle contracts. In addition, both sides are looking at changes regarding specs on futures contracts and how cattle are delivered against those contracts.
However, Greiman says they did not get any answers about the rumored changes to the Worthing, South Dakota delivery point for live cattle…which is a real concern.
Greiman says they also expressed their desire to deliver heifers against cattle futures contracts.
