Minnesota Officials Making Progress On Bovine TB Eradication

Minnesota Board of Animal Health officials say they’re making progress on Bovine Tuberculosis eradication efforts in their state after an outbreak in 2009 that forced them to lose their TB free status. State Veterinarian Dr. Bill Hartmann reported late last week to the State Senate Agriculture Committee that they haven’t had any new infections for over 12 months.

Dr. Hartmann says they hope to improve their Bovine TB status by this fall.

Dr. Hartmann says modified accredited free status allows cattle to be moved within states with no Bovine TB testing required while modified accredited advanced requires some Bovine TB testing for interstate movement of animals. He says their making application for the upgrade soon and hope to have it by October First.
