Billikens

August 9th, 2010 by dee-wnax

I asked what Steve Imming’s mascot was in high school.  He said they were the Jr. Billikens.  I hadn’t ever heard of such a thing and asked what it was and he really couldn’t explain it to me.  Here is a picture and a little write up about a Billiken.

bi1

The Billiken was born Oct. 8, 1908, when Kansas City art teacher and illustrator Florence Pretz patented a design for an elflike creature with pixie ears, a mischievous smile and a tuft of hair on his pointed head. Reportedly, the image came to her in a dream.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Icecream.com assembled a list of eight popular flavors of ice cream and then correlated each to personality characteristics, including a romantic compatibility forecast. Choose your favorite ice cream flavor and see how it matches up!

My favorite flavor is not on the list, bubble gum, but of the flavors ilike mint chip the best…mmmm!!!

  • Butter Pecan — You are the perfect employee — devoted, conscientious, respectful and fiscally conservative. Not only do you hold high standards for right and wrong and show integrity in all of your actions, but also you are very sensitive to others’ feelings. You don’t share your own feelings easily, but when you do, you only discuss these deepest thoughts with close family and friends. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Mint Chocolate Chip.
  • Chocolate Chip — Competitive and accomplished in both love and work, you know the value of working hard. You are ambitious, as well as generous with your time and money. You never take your blessings for granted. Because of your captivating personality, you shine in social situations. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Butter Pecan or Double Chocolate Chunk.
  • Coffee — Lively, dramatic and flirtatious, you thrive on the passion of the moment. Your downfall is that you tend to over-commit, starting new projects before finishing old ones. Dull relationships bore you. You thrive on new and exciting ventures. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Strawberry.
  • Double Chocolate Chunk — Lively, creative and dramatic, you are the life of the party and charm everyone you meet with your enthusiasm and sense of style. You love being in the spotlight and much prefer the scintillating company of others instead of being left alone to dwell on the meaning of life. When it comes to romance, you look for passion and excitement. You are high-maintenance, too, requiring a lot of attention from your mate. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Butter Pecan or Chocolate Chip.
  • Mint Chocolate Chip — Even though you are ambitious and confident, you are a bit skeptical about life. As a realist who prepares for the future, you need a solid plan in order to feel secure. You’re also stubborn–something that is an asset on the job but challenging for your personal relationships. Still, your loyalty, honesty and dependability go far in creating lasting friendships and close family ties. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with other Mint Chocolate Chip lovers.
  • Rocky Road — A balanced mixture of charm and practicality, you are outgoing and engaging in social situations, but when it comes to business, you are aggressive and goal-oriented. You love the finer things in life and enjoy being catered to. Minor slights upset you, and you respond best to encouragement instead of criticism. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with other Rocky Road fans.
  • Strawberry — You are a thoughtful, logical individual who carefully weighs the options before making a decision. You prefer to be a follower instead of a leader and are quite content and effective working behind the scenes. When it comes to relationships, you are often thought of as shy and reserved. You aren’t likely to fall in love at first sight, but when you do commit to a relationship, you are loyal and supportive. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Strawberry, Rocky Road, Mint Chocolate Chip and Vanilla.
  • Vanilla — Forget the myth about plain vanilla. You are not only emotionally expressive and idealistic, but also a colorful, dramatic risk taker who relies more on intuition than logic. You set high goals for yourself and then strive to meet them. You prefer secure romantic relationships that fulfill your emotional needs while working toward future objectives. Romantic Compatibility: You are most compatible with those who prefer Rocky Road.

Tipper!!!!

July 21st, 2010 by dee-wnax

Here is our new puppy!  We had to put our old dog, Bocephus, down this past spring.  We got Tipper on Sunday night and we just love him.  He is so much smaller than our german shepard.  Even when Bo was a puppy he was never this small.  Tipper is a boardeer collie and I think he will have lots of fun around the farm playing with Marshall.

Busy Sunday

July 20th, 2010 by dee-wnax

I was so fortunate to attend my Grandpa’s 90th birthday Party on Sunday afternoon in Castlewood, SD.  We had such a  fun time.  All that was missing were the fireworks!  We range in ages from grandpa’s 90 to the newest addition to our family, Caden.  He is a week and half old!  Here is the whole gang.

2

After the party we headed out and got a new puppy!!! Here he is.  We named him Tipper.  You can’t see it but his tail is all black except for the tip…which is white.  thus the name Tipper!
